Designed for testing microelectronic devices, MEMS, Photonic and other small components, the 5848 MicroTester combines high precision with excellent cyclic performance
Instron Corporation®, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, introduces its latest addition to the family of MicroTester Systems, the Model 5848. Designed for testing microelectronic devices, MEMS, Photonic and other small components, the 5848 MicroTester combines high precision with excellent cyclic performance. Applications include semiconductor die shear and pull tests, tensile testing of fine wires and fibers, and peel tests of thin films and substrates.

Instron's 5848 MicroTester provides the sub-micron position accuracy and ultra high-precision control capability required for testing micro sized components and the dynamic performance needed for cyclic fatigue testing. The design includes an extremely rigid frame, capable of being used in either horizontal or vertical orientations, which ensures accurate and repeatable deformation measurements. A specially designed encoder, mounted directly on the loading actuator, provides position measurement resolution of better than 20 nanometers. The 5848's servo-electric actuator drive system is ideal for cleanroom environments, and its small footprint allows for installation on any laboratory workbench or table. A wide variety of interchangeable accessories are available.
