Murata Unveils Latest Additions To Its Temperature Sensing Thermistor Line
Smyrna, GA - Murata Electronics NorthAmerica, a world-leading innovator in electronics and the largest global supplier of ceramic passive components, recently announced the addition of the PRF and NCP series to its temperature sensing thermistor line. Both were developed to meet the design flexibility, reliability, standardization and cost savings needs expected by engineers in today's automotive market. The PRF PTC(positive temperature coefficient) thermistors are ideal for high accuracy overheat sensing. The NCP NTC (negative temperature coefficient) thermistors were created for temperature measurement with high accuracy over wide temperature ranges.
As some of the most cost effective solutions available industry-wide, the PRF series offers a quick and easy design for repeatable overheat sensing and provides resettable protection in the circuit because there is no hysteresis. The NCP series offers the same resistance and B constant in several different package sizes that allows for convenient redesign and cost reduction. Both are surface mount series have operating temperatures in the range of -40°C to +125°C for commercial grade and up to +150°C for automotive grade and are suitable for lead free soldering in addition to meeting ELV/UL and AEC-Q200 requirements. Finally, both series utilize a very sturdy construction that make them resistant to mechanical vibrations and shock.
"As the inventor of ceramic Thermistors, we are continuously developing fine ceramic materials and firing processes to produce the best products that meet designers' needs of today and tomorrow," stated Mitch Nozaki, Product Manager. "Not only have we been able to provide the automotive design community with the products needed to regulate detrimental temperature variances, we have also secured the most market share in doing so. We commend our team for achieving such a significant milestone."
